Governor Appoints CFJ's Dana Gutierrez to Serve as Judge on Guam Superior Court
Everyone at CFJ is very proud of our own Dana Gutierrez who was appointed to the Guam Superior Court bench on November 19, 2019 by Governor Lou Leon Guerrero.
At the ceremony announcing Dana's appointment, the Governor said, "Attorney Dana Gutierrez possesses the judicial temperament, that was very crucial requirement for me, ethical grounding, intelligence, education, courage and integrity."
CFJ's Jacob Speaks to College-Bound Guam Students About Program That Reduces Tuition Costs
CFJ's Rodney Jacob is a Commissioner of WICHE - the Western Interstate Commission on Higher Education. As Guam's representative of WICHE, Rod recently spoke to a group of Guam high school students about a WICHE program called the Western Undergraduate Exchange which makes college in Hawaii or on the mainland more affordable for Guam students. Win for GIAA in Guam Supreme Court in Sunshine Act Dispute with DFS
Ninth Circuit Rules for Guam Airport in Ancestral Lands Case
On March 1, 2019 the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the Guam International Airport Authority (GIAA) in a case brought by Vicente Crawford seeking compensation for the Airport's use of ancestral lands. CFJ represented both GIAA and GIAA Board Chair Ricardo Duenas in the case and all claims were dismissed against both parties. CFJ's Genevieve Rapadas had argued the case on behalf of GIAA and Chairman Duenas at the Ninth Circuit in San Francisco on November 15, 2018. See our post

CFJ's Gutierrez Appointed to Guam Solid Waste Authority Board
Dana Gutierrez, of counsel at Calvo Fisher & Jacob, has been appointed by Governor Lourdes A. Leon Guerrero to the board of the Guam Solid Waste Authority. Dana is the former Director of Policy, Planning and Community Relations at the Judiciary of Guam, and previously served as legal counsel and executive assistant to the President of the University of Guam.
