Gutierrez and Rapadas Present Employment Law Update to SHRM Guam

CFJ's Dana Gutierrez and Genevieve Rapadas made a presentation to the Guam chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) on May 2, 2018 entitled "Employment Law Update and Creating Documentation to Withstand the Scrutiny of a Judge or Jury."

According to the SHRM website:  "Dana A. Gutierrez, an attorney at Calvo Fisher & Jacob LLP and the SHRM Guam Chapter's VP of Legislative Affairs, recently attended the 2018 SHRM Employment Law & Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C.  She will provide an employment law update to assist you in staying compliant with the latest employment laws and regulations.

In addition, Ms. Gutierrez and Genevieve P. Rapadas, also an attorney at Calvo Fisher & Jacob LLP, will discuss the importance of implementing documentation practices to support the employer’s workplace decisions.  As employers, you have repeatedly heard the mantra, “document, document, document.”  However, having poor documentation—documentation that is ambiguous, biased, conclusory or too general—can sometimes be more problematic than having no documentation.  This presentation will discuss common documentation mistakes, an employer’s obligation to preserve documentation, and an employer’s obligation to produce documentation during an administrative investigation or when a lawsuit is filed."
